About Gerlinger
The Evolution of the Straddle Carrier
Founded in 1918
The Gerlinger Carrier Co. was created by a German-born immigrant, Mr. Carl Gerlinger Sr., to manufacture both straddle carriers and forklifts. The Dallas, Oregon-based company eventually merged with Towmotor and Caterpillar Tractor in the 1950s. The carrier line became more of a specialty product, and was re-acquired by one of the Gerlinger family businesses in the 1970s. In 1984, Gerlinger Carrier Company's assets were acquired by the GCC, Inc., which is proudly owned by descendants of Carl Gerlinger. Designed and manufactured in our Salem, Oregon facility, we have manufactured over 130 straddle carriers since 1984.
Over the years, the markets for Gerlinger Carriers have changed. Most applications now center on steel/metal handling, oil refineries, building materials, military, and special handling requirements that call for flexibility and economy.
Our Latest Carrier Improvements
Gerlinger is pleased to announce our latest carrier improvements - the hydrostatic drive and the all new addition of the Crenlo Cab. The new drive system uses hydraulic components and eliminates the mechanical drive chain system. Smoother starts/stops, quicker response, and a tighter turning radius, provide benefits in both operation and maintenance. The Crenlo Cab offers improved visibility, improved comfort, and state-of-the-art componentry in operator controls.
We appreciate the opportunity to serve our customers and we are committed to being the world leader in the quality, design, and manufacture of straddle carriers. This commitment can be seen in the use of Gerlinger Carriers throughout several industries. When you need a quality carrier for your material handling application, call on Gerlinger Carrier - GCC Inc.
